Lotus Glen
This multi award winning project was delivered under a contract awarded to Thiess in 2009, to redevelop the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre on the Atherton Tablelands.
Total project works included building three new cell blocks, a new detention centre, education building, sports hall, visitor processing facility, prisoner processing facility, visits building, medical unit, kitchen, central energy building, industrial workshops and gatehouse. The project added 300 secure cells to the facility, boosting cell capacity from 396 to 696 beds.
HPS Contractors services provided in conjunction with this project include: Plumbing | Roofing
HPS were sub-contracted to provide the roofing and hydraulics services on the project, as well as small general building contracts through the contract.
The project was complicated by the fact that the prison continued to operate as a live prison during the redevelopment, providing a number of logistical complications through the project.
