Tobruk Pool
ADCO Constructions were successful in obtaining the contract for the redevelopment of the historical Tobruk Pool on Sheridan Street, in Cairns.
The 50m Tobruk Memorial Pool and its associated facilities, being a wading pool, kiosk and amenities building, were built in 1960 as a memorial site, funded with the help of the Rats of Tobruk. Situated on Sheridan Street, just minutes from the Cairns CBD and within walking distance of the popular Cairns Botanic Gardens, it is arguably the region’s highest profile swimming facility. The re-development was a priority project for Cairns Regional Council, who hope to make it one of the preeminent aquatic sport and leisure facilities in regional Australia.
As well as rebuilding the 50m pool to FINA specifications, the project will see the development of a interactive leisure centre (artificial wave rider), additional program pool for warm-up / warm-down, toddler pool and waterplay area, upgrade the existing 25m pool for various hydrotherapy activities, upgrade all site amenities, provide landscaping, seating and shade and much more.
HPS have secured the sub-contracts for provision of hand rails, screens, louvres and fencing etc through their Sheetmetal Worx division, composite cladding through the building and construction division and roofing and flashings through the roofing division.
